The Bank of New York Mellon was pleased to be a lead sponsor for the U.S.-China-India Innovation Partnerships Conference. The Conference, held December 10-12 in Boston, aimed to serve as a cornerstone of a major new initiative to build, foster, and maintain deep innovation and talent partnerships among leaders in industry, universities, and government from the United States, China, and India.
This unique cross-border initiative brought together 350 leaders from three industries – financial services, life sciences, and energy/clean tech – for the purpose of engaging in topical strategy sessions and exploring how deeper partnerships can be formed between the intellectual assets in Massachusetts and their counterparts in both China and India.
Ron O’Hanley, President & CEO of BNY Mellon Asset Management and Vice Chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon, served as the co-chair of the Conference and provided both a perspective on global financial markets and a focus on Asian markets. Speaking about the markets, he provided historical context, talked about the current downturn, and provided a perspective on what happens beyond the financial crisis and how we might move forward in a recoupled world. The link to Ron’s remarks is attached.
Other lead sponsors of the financial services module included Ted Kelly of Liberty Mutual, John Hailer of Natixis asset Management and Ron Logue of State Street.
Thomas R. Burton of Mintz Levin and Dan Goldman of GreatPoint Energy co-chaired the Clean Energy session. Edward Benz of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Jeffery Elton of Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research co-chaired the Life Sciences Leadership Group.
Participants from universities and research institutions included the Presidents from Harvard, Northeastern, Boston University, University of Massachusetts, Tufts University, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad), Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
